(preface) 2014-2022 is a Japan-exclusive compilation made for fastcut records.
Highlighting the dreamier side of the Meishi Smile discography, while also including standalone singles, b-sides, and compilation cuts, the majority of the tracks have never before been released on vinyl and are all newly remastered.
The record hearkens back to the classic curated compilation album, such as New Order's "Substance" and The Cure's "Greatest Hits," while also serving as a transitional point and documentation of an era of Meishi Smile leading up to its 4th long-awaited album, "Limerence" - arriving Fall 2024.

If 1991 is the year punk broke, then surely 2014 was the year the Internet broke.
With their debut, LUST, Meishi Smile burst onto the scene under the “digital punk” label ZOOM LENS with a ferocity that NPR described as “part shoegaze, part chillout, part noise, part power-electronics, yet so cohesive it feels like a single genre,” bridging the gap between East Asian and American artists as a “leading interpreter of shoegazed J-Pop” (The Fader).
Through national television spots on Adult Swim, shows with Anamanaguchi, Chrome Sparks, Craft Spells, Kero Kero Bonito, Perfume, tofubeats, and others over the years, Meishi Smile catapulted beyond the web, and ZOOM LENS was recognized by Complex as one of the top indie labels alongside 4AD and Ghostly.
A decade later, the influence of LUST is still revered. Noted as a catalyst for the new generation of Internet producers and mainstream pop music, The Line of Best Fit retroactively honored it as the "#1 Hyperpop album of all time."
For the first time since 2014, LUST is now being reissued for its 10th year anniversary. The album will be available on February 2nd, 2024 on limited clear transparent vinyl and CD, both with new artwork and a retrospective essay by Noah Simon.
